Gum Disease

“Diagnosing gum disease is very important during regular exam. Failure to diagnose gum problem is one of the most common issues in the dentistry. If gum disease is ignored, it may create multiple teeth loss in the future and any restorative work done on the teeth with gum disease will fail.

Regular teeth cleaning (also known as prophy) only cleans above the gum. If you have gum disease due to calculus underneath the gum, deep cleaning (scaling & root planning) is essential to cure the disease. No matter how often you do regular cleaning, regular cleaning won’t take care of the calculus underneath the gum.

Sometimes, I even use soft tissue laser technology at the end to accelerate the healing process and for the patient’s comfort.”
