No Comments

A root canal is a dental procedure that helps prevent unnecessary tooth extractions. According to the American Association of Endodontists, more than 15 million people get root canals every year. The dentist removes the inflamed teeth, cleans the infected area, and seals the gap.

We, at Rapha Dental, provide comprehensive root canal procedures with minimal to no pain.

Root Canal

Root Canal, also known as Endodontist Treatment, is performed under anesthesia and is not more painful than any other dental treatment. But, a root canal can result in numbness that may cause discomfort for a short period.

How to know if you need a Root Canal?

Root Canal is used to treat a cavity, tooth injury, or filling issues. Some symptoms include:

  • Pain while chewing
  • Cracked tooth
  • Sensitivity to hot or cold food
  • Dark or swollen gums

Procedure

To treat an infected tooth, the following steps are taken:

  • The dentist drills a hole in the infected tooth;
  • Removes the pulp or bacteria;
  • Fills the hole with medicine;
  • Cleans the area with water to disinfect.

The procedure is carried out when the patient is under anesthesia to minimize the pain. After treatment, rubber dams are placed around the infected area to prevent the spread of infection and reduce pain.

Time Duration

After the root canal, your teeth will be numb for almost 2–4 hours. People often return to their work or school as usual, but it is advised not to eat or perform any intensive activity until the numbness is completely gone.

Benefits of Root Canal

One of the major advantages of a root canal is that there’s no tooth extraction, and people can retain their natural teeth without going through much pain.

For most people, tooth extraction seems to be an easy way out. But, tooth extraction requires more follow-ups. Not only this, in some cases, patients are required to get crowns or dentures, etc., which are more costly and time-consuming.

We encourage our patients to schedule an appointment with a general dentist NJ to catch the cavity in time. To book an appointment contact us, at Rapha Dental; we provide the services at the most affordable rates.
